I am honored to share that my book, The Black Lawyer in Minnesota 1973–2023: A Story of Firsts and Those Who Made a Difference, has been accepted into the research catalog of the Library of Congress.
This recognition by the United States Library of Congress ensures that the history, contributions, and legacy of Black lawyers in Minnesota are preserved as part of the national record. What began as a commitment to document stories that too often go untold has now become a permanent resource for scholars, students, and future generations seeking to understand the role Black attorneys have played in shaping Minnesota’s legal landscape.
I am also proud to announce that the book has been cataloged by the Minnesota Historical Society and added to its permanent and research collections. This milestone affirms the importance of preserving our state’s legal history and honoring the pioneers whose courage and excellence opened doors for so many who followed.
This moment belongs not only to me, but to every lawyer, judge, mentor, and community member whose story is reflected in these pages. Their perseverance, leadership, and impact deserve to be remembered, studied, and celebrated.
I am deeply grateful to all who supported this project and to the institutions that recognize the value of documenting this history. The work continues, but today we pause to acknowledge how far we have come and to ensure that these stories will never be forgotten.
